Congratulations Canada! After 95 years of prohibition and propaganda, cannabis is finally legal in Canada! I believe all Canadians owe a great debt of gratitude to the original cannabis pioneers who sowed the seeds of change and dedicated their lives to standing against the unjust laws despite personal and professional repercussions.

The father of the CEO of Black Creek Cannabis is "Buck" Buchan.  Buck was an artist and an original cannabis activist.  He co-founded the organization The Canadian Association to Liberate Marijuana ( C.A.L.M. ) and was an organizer of the "Smoke-In" festivals at Borden Park in Edmonton Alberta during the late 70's and early 80's. Buck was also instrumental in the creation of the original Cannabis Day celebrations that took place July 1st, 1977. At the time this holiday was known as Dominion Day and it wasn't until 1982 that it was officially changed to Canada Day.

We all wish Buck was here today to see the dream finally realized. Although this is not exactly the legalization we envisioned it is definitely a step in the right direction.
